enfin, citron.

citron

What on Earth took me so long to finish this? Sure, there are a whole lot of stitches near the end, but that's no excuse for a 5-month hiatus! Thankfully, once I decided on the recipient, I had a built-in deadline. My dear friend is leaving Friday to meet his girlfriend, who spent the semester in Switzerland. Then they're off to Paris for Christmas. (The word "envy" doesn't even come close.) I had intended to send her a care package a couple of months ago, but the $80 shipping cost made me queazy, so I'll ship it in a suitcase instead. I hope she loves it as much as I do; it's so fluttery and light, yet warm and cozy, and I think it will fit right in with a French Christmas!

Isn't it amazing how a knitter on a time crunch can overcome even the most extreme cases of project fatigue? I could knit a 70-metre scarf if it came with a deadline. I'm sure more than a few of you have smoke coming off the needles nowadays, as The Big Deadline approaches. I decided not to knit Christmas gifts this year, opting to make decorations for the apartment instead, and I have to say, it feels really weird! I'm mildly uncomfortable with the idea of being well-rested on Christmas Day.

This is really pretty and I can see how it would be very warm and snuggily under a coat!
