Yes I am!
smitten

We loved the idea (I was inspired by Earth Chick) of celebrating each day with a fun activity rather than a candy or toy. Things were rocking busy for us until halfway through the advent, though, so we started a little late this year. Luckily, the Little One is none the wiser!

I still plan to stamp and stitch a number tag inside each mitten, but I get a feeling that'll be next year. We're easing into this, apparently.

enfin, citron.

What on Earth took me so long to finish this? Sure, there are a whole lot of stitches near the end, but that's no excuse for a 5-month hiatus! Thankfully, once I decided on the recipient, I had a built-in deadline. My dear friend is leaving Friday to meet his girlfriend, who spent the semester in Switzerland. Then they're off to Paris for Christmas. (The word "envy" doesn't even come close.) I had intended to send her a care package a couple of months ago, but the $80 shipping cost made me queazy, so I'll ship it in a suitcase instead. I hope she loves it as much as I do; it's so fluttery and light, yet warm and cozy, and I think it will fit right in with a French Christmas!

Isn't it amazing how a knitter on a time crunch can overcome even the most extreme cases of project fatigue? I could knit a 70-metre scarf if it came with a deadline. I'm sure more than a few of you have smoke coming off the needles nowadays, as The Big Deadline approaches. I decided not to knit Christmas gifts this year, opting to make decorations for the apartment instead, and I have to say, it feels really weird! I'm mildly uncomfortable with the idea of being well-rested on Christmas Day.

a very little christmas

The lovely Chelsea Jade of Willow Ships has just released the Christmas compilation she and a handful of folks created...and it's free! Methinks you want a copy. Either get it through her site, or if I've done it right, you should be linked right to the download page here. I delight in all things Christmas (well...I could do without "Santa Baby" and the hollow commercialism, but I've become adept at ignoring such things), and this collection of songs is a beautiful addition to the soundtrack.
